
Gloria Christofano, flute
Gloria earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education in 1989 from Duquesne University, and a Master of Education degree in 2007. As a flutist, Gloria studied with David Tessmer and Bernard Goldberg, and has performed extensively with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony, University of Pittsburgh Orchestra, Westmoreland Symphony, Johnstown Symphony, and has subbed with the Pittsburgh Symphony. She was a featured soloist with the Westmoreland Symphony and the former Plum Creek Chamber Orchestra. Gloria has been a music educator for twenty-three years, teaching band, orchestra and chorus before retiring from the Upper St. Clair school district in 2010, and has served on the adjunct faculty music personnel of St. Vincent College as flute instructor. As a vocalist, she has sung with the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, directed the diocesan choir of the Diocese of Greensburg , and has twenty-two years of adult and children's choir directing experience. Currently, Gloria is an avid freelance flutist and vocalist, a member and co-conductor of the Penn-Trafford community band, founder of the Quinta Voce Wind Quintet and the Penn-Trafford Community Flute Choir, sings with the First Presbyterian Chancel Choir of Greensburg and the the Glass City Swing Band, and belongs to the National Flute Association (NFA), Music Educators National Conference (MENC) and Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA).
